HISTORY OF OUR NOTEBOOKS

AND THE WORKSHOP

FRENCH LUMBERMEN

La Compagnie du Kraft is probably the most unproductive notebook workshop in the world. This is all part of our charm. Our products are part of a popular culture - foresters from the french Landes who made notes about cutting down trees. A few words were also destinated for lumbermen's wives, althought we haven't found any love letter yet.

HISTORIC WORKSHOP AND TYPOGRAPHY

Meet Philippe, the last bastion of male resistance in the workshop. Our long-lasting typographer has trained a new generation to take over, although we still prepare all our notebooks using the same traditional method. The workshop is housed in 50m2 and the equipment is serviced in house, as the spare parts are difficult to find. Workshop specialty : "carnet de boucher" using a small device dating back to 1948, Pillippe perforates and prints each page. The cylinders block whenever he tries to take it up a notch and the frenzied paper ballet commences !
THE STORY, CONTINUED

By reviving the communication notebook used by french lumbermen in 2008, La Compagnie du Kraft didn't know what the future would hold. Today, things are a little clearer. With 25.000 notebooks leaving our workshop in 2015, we reached 50% production capacity. We now export almost 60% of our notebooks across the world from Los Angeles to Hong-Kong. We have to admit that we like to keep things zen. Our growth is based on word of mouth with an almost non-existant marketing culture. Benevolence and sharing are in limitless supply.
